Last Coaches Pitch Game

The boys on the bench

Josh is ready to bat.

running home

and he slides

Bat girl Rabbie

This is the way we watch the game.

Josh loved getting a trophy!

Lacie liked hers too.

Josh's last game of the season was Monday the 18th. They played a double header on a kind of chilly night against the team we had been rained out of playing twice. The boys and one girl had a great time and especially loved having a good snack and getting trophies at the end. Now we will just play endless games of baseball and practice throwing the football for the rest of the summer. Good times!!!

Silly Girls

While visiting my parents the other night these two silly girls cooked up a plan to scare people. They were hiding in a laundry basket in a cabinet in the bathroom and every time someone would sit on the potty they would fling the door open. Silly silly girls.

Sunday Funday

Sunday was another fun and somewhat busy day for us too. We went to Sunday School and church then home for lunch and naps. HA yeah right naps. I sent the girls home with my mom after church and brought Josh and his pal Sam home with me. They were actually very good and played quietly in J's room all afternoon while I worked on some chores. (Is there ever a time when we aren't doing some sort of chore?) We had our final children's choir meeting at five so we took our Sam home a little early only to find this in his yard.
Sam's aunt brought about seven horses and a donkey over and they were going out riding on the property. How much fun is that?! The boys weren't too sure about those big animals but mommy Kirven wanted so much to ride with them.

The children's final choir practice was so much fun. Mrs. Hicks sang a bunch of fun songs with them then let them have relay races down the hall in the education building. They had a blast running and screaming in the place where they are normally required to be on their better behavior. After the races we had a little party put on by the Hicks. I simply adore both of these people. Ken is such a wonderful preacher who just shines with the Holy Spirit and Tina is just as wonderful. Our church has been so blessed to have them as our leaders.

Weekend Warriors

As I mentioned in a recent post, we are busy a lot these days. Well, this weekend was not an exception. Not much rest for this weary mom. Friday night the girls and I went to Lacie's dance recital at the Opera House. It was so cute. All of the the girls did a fabulous job and looked precious in their costumes. It was even better, in my humble opinion, because it lasted less than 45 minutes. That's right, less than 45 minutes start to finish. I am thinking my girls may have to sign up with Ms. Robin next year. I will steal some pictures from Jill as soon as I can.
Sara Abbett had a softball game at 9:00 this morning in McBee. We had to be there at 8:30 to warm up so there was no sleeping in on this weekend morning. The girls played hard and made some great plays but sadly they were not the winners this time. It was fun to watch regardless
of the outcome. Though I can't take any good distance shots the girls didn't seem to mind letting me in the dugout to catch a few closeups. Aren't they cute?

We left the game, hurried home, ran into the house to potty and change clothes then rushed back out to Anna Grace's show choir end of the year party at Mrs. Baker's house. The kids had a blast playing some games, singing karaoke and having a hamburger and hot dog lunch. A good time was had by all but by the time we left I was tired and still had about a dozen loads of laundry to do and some major grocery shopping to accomplish. My wonderful husband went to the store for me and I just worked on housework for the afternoon. Tomorrow looks to be equally as busy. God is so good to me.

My Boy

Josh had his 6 year check up yesterday (his birthday was in Jan. but who notices these things) so I picked him up early from school so we would be home in time for his ball game. When I got to his classroom he was sitting at his table holding a paper towel to his mouth. My precious boy lost another tooth. YUK! Have I mentioned that teeth totally gross me out. We had a good checkup with only one needle, and a finger stick to check cholesterol and hemoglobin. Josh did not like when the doctor had to check him "down there" but survived the embarrassment. He did want a prize though for being so brave when he got his shot so we headed to Toys R Us. He still had his gift card from a school program months ago. We walked all over the store twice trying to find just the right thing. My angel ended up picking an Atlanta Braves tee shirt. Seriously, with all of those toys to choose from and he picked a shirt. With the money he had left he chose some candy that he shared with his sisters. Isn't that sweet?

Well, this morning my sweet boy was pouting at the table eating his breakfast. When I asked him what was wrong he said the tooth fairy only brought him a dollar. What a creep! Life is so interesting with Josh around.

Time Flies...

...when the end of the school year is near. The last few weeks have been crazy busy for the Kirven crowd. A typical week involves at least two usually three ball games, one or two ball practices on the days we don't have games, and a party of some sort. We have also had two music programs at school, a praise concert in which Anna Grace and her show choir performed, the amazing Relay for Life, haircuts and a couple doctor's appointments. Last weekend alone we had a tea party for a bride to be, two Mother's day celebrations and a birthday party for my precious nephew Zeke. The children also performed the songs they have been learning in children's choir during the service at church on Sunday. What a boring life it would be indeed if we didn't have these precious children to keep us on the go. Life is so good.

Before I Was a Mom

This is a forward that has been going around via e-mail. I love it and thought it would be nice to share since Mother's Day is just around the corner. I don't know who to give the credit for this but am sure glad to have it.

Before I Was A Mom
Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .
