Homecoming 2009

Costume Day and Pajama day are two of the fun dress up days we have leading up to the big celebration of REL Homecoming every year. We also have camouflage, theme, and blue and white days also but we didn't pull out the camera for those since the kids were not loving having their pictures taken in the first place.
Sweet girls having fun at the alumni tables.
I remember Homecoming being a big deal. We shopped for just the right outfit to wear to the game and the dance afterward. It seemed to me that the kids at school just didn't care all that much this year. There were some who were dressed up special but for the most part it was just like another game. From what I understand, there weren't many who even bothered to go to the dance. It makes me sad to see this kind of change. It's like there is no pride whatsoever in themselves or the school.
We thankfully still have a homecoming court and queen. Congratulations to Katie Mac on her win. Also, for the past several years we have had Distinguished Alumni and Cavalier awards. It's a nice way to recognize a former student and a parent who didn't attend REL for all that they do for our school. I hope the kids today will see what these special parents do and will want to follow suit.
Homecoming was a fun time for all in spite of the flaws I personally found. GO CAVS!!!
