Ovis Hill Farm

The morning was a little chilly thus the hood.

Josh's class went on a field trip last Friday to Ovis Hill Farm in Timmonsville. This is the BEST field trip we have gone on. The children learn so much about different aspects of the farm and get to do lots of hands on activities. They painted gourds, made butter, did a little square dancing, made bracelets from wool yarn and learned a lot about sheep. They even got to take turns feeding a calf and lamb a bottle. My favorite part was watching the border collie herd the sheep. It fascinates me each time I get to see this particular demonstration.

Some from Easter

"Miss" Cindy took some pictures on Easter Sunday and generously shared them with me. She is a beautiful photographer.

The butterflies are a fairly new tradition at our church. For the past several years the children have been given caterpillars to raise until they hatch as beautiful butterflies which we then release by the cross on Easter morning after the service. The butterfly is one of many symbols for the meaning of the life of Christ. The caterpillar stage stands for His life on Earth. The cocoon stage, in which it appears dead, is symbolic of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. The final stage, the emerging butterfly, represents His raising from the dead in a glorified body. Now isn't that a really neat way to teach the children about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Sara Abbett Plays Softball

Finally I have a few pictures of Sara Abbett on the softball field. They had another game last night and this time Coach Uncle Bill let Rabbie try her hand at catching. Isn't she cute in all the catchers garb. Thanks Hannah for bringing your working camera to the game.

Preparing for Easter

We are excited to celebrate the resurrection of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, tomorrow. Today we had a wonderful egg hunt at the incredible home of Katherine and Will Woodham. They are such good sports to host this event since their children are a bit too old for egg hunts.
My babies had a blast with their friends exploring the property in search of eggs and eating yummy party food. AG is too old to hunt but she made a quick friend of Carlysle and helped her choose between pecans and eggs.

We decided it would be fun to dye eggs so I boiled three dozen and purchased an egg dye kit but my precious angels could not mind or behave this afternoon so we have a bunch of boiled white eggs. Egg salad anyone? It's the thought that counts I guess. While I was working in the kitchen Sara Abbett and Josh wrote letters to the Easter Bunny. Greedy little people.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Baseball season has begun! Josh is playing coaches pitch and Sara Abbett has decided to try her hand at softball. We have not had a lot of practice as the weather has not cooperated this year but we're off and running now with games. Rab's first game was Friday night. We only have one 8 and under softball team so they divided the team and the girls played each other. Good practice for them though not an ideal situation. I took one picture of her through the fence then the battery died in my camera. Real cool mom. Take my word for it when I say she is adorable in her uniform and so are all the other precious girls on her team. Tonight was Josh's first game. He was pumped and ready to head to the field an hour before game time. Unfortunately he has not had enough sleep lately and was in a horrible mood by game time. We were missing more than half of our Yankees team but played anyway in the freezing wind with our five fellas. If you have never been to a t-ball or coach's pitch game you should put it at the top of your to do list. The children were all so cute but fairly clueless about how to do anything more than play in the dirt or pick grass. I was proud of Josh in spite of it all though. He is a pretty good athlete and does really well in any sport he tries. Life is good.
